i've not seen shore since
i'm out too far by far
taking thought while lacking sense
i'm mixed up with the stars
away around about
the foreign night has found me out

more than miles of where
have filled my wayward mind
distances and reason's care
separate me from my kind
word wind wail
the foreign night's a ship
full sail

Dear Learner,

In this poem, the poet talks about how "far" he is from "the shore" in the sea of his mind. He compares the sea with the night sky, using the word "foreign" to describe unfamiliar territory. He feels 'discovered' by the 'foreign night' and 'distanced' from his 'kind'. Yet, he feels like he's sailing in the 'sea' of the 'night'. This poem can be interpreted in a million ways. I see my own life's journey in it. For me, life is that 'sea' that I am constantly 'sailing' in.

This poet is an excellent teacher of the English language because of how uniquely he writes. Some of the unique expressions in the above poem are "I'm out too far by far", "I'm mixed up with the stars", "more than miles of where" and "word wind wail".

प्रिय विद्यार्थी,

इस कविता में कवि अपने मन की तुलना एक समुद्र से करते हैं और बताते हैं कि वो उसके किनारे से कितनी दूर हैं | कवि उस समुद्र को रात के काले आसमान का दृश्य बताते हैं और  कहते हैं कि ये दृश्य उनके लिए एक अंजाने स्थान जैसा है | उन्हें लगता है कि रात के काले आसमान ने उन्हें पहचान लिया है और वो अपने अपनों से दूर हैं | फिर भी उन्हें लगता है जैसे वो उस समुद्र में पानी के जहाज़ पर अग्रसर हैं |

ये कवि अँग्रेज़ी के सर्वश्रेष्ठ अध्यापक हैं क्यूंकी ये अँग्रेज़ी भाषा का प्रयोग एक अत्यंत ही अनूठे ढंग से करते हैं | कुछ उदाहरण हैं -- "I'm out too far by far", "I'm mixed up with the stars", "more than miles of where" और "word wind wail"|
